Meditation Meetings - Format.

Our meetings take the form of a meditation service which is a format laid out by Paramahansa Yogananda. The same format is used by SRF circles, larger groups, centres, temples and ashrams all over the world.

A meditation service usually lasts one hour and starts with a prayer, an inspirational reading from the writings of our Guru or one of his foremost deciples, followed by a few minutes of chanting - these are similar to Indian "bhajans" and consist of repetitive phrases calling on God. There is then a period of silent meditation where we make use of various SRF meditation techniques, possibly interspersed with more chanting before ending with a prayers, including prayers for the healing of the body, mind and soul, and for worl peace and harmony.

We meet usually once a week for a meditation service at 7:30 pm (sharp) on Friday evenings, the whole meeting lasting approximatley one hour and twenty minutes. Non-members are welcome. Don't worry if you haven't meditated before, we can introduce you to one or two techniques.

We meet in Loughborough Road in Quorn. If you haven't attended before it would be advisable to telephone first to check that a meeting is taking place. You will find our schedule here. The number to ring is 01509 412079.

"As the mind and the feeling are directed inward, you begin to feel God’s joy. The pleasures of the senses do not last; but the joy of God is everlasting. It is incomparable!" -
